Terms of Use – The Foresight

Welcome to The Foresight (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), an independent Indian publication covering society, economy, and governance, published at theforesight.in (the “Site”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Site, including all content, features, and services offered on or through it. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.
1. About the Site
The Foresight publishes news, analysis, opinion, and commentary on society, economy, and governance in India. Content on the Site includes staff-written articles, contributed pieces from external writers, and editorial opinion — the views expressed in bylined articles are those of the respective authors and do not necessarily reflect the editorial position of The Foresight.
2. Intellectual Property
All content published on the Site — including text, graphics, logos, images, and design — is the property of The Foresight or its licensors and is protected under the Copyright Act, 1957 (India) and other applicable intellectual property laws, unless otherwise credited.
No part of this publication may be reproduced, distributed, or transmitted in any form without prior written permission from The Foresight, except for brief quotations with proper attribution and a link back to the original article, as permitted under fair use/fair dealing principles.
3. Contributor Submissions (“Submit Your Write-up”)
If you submit an article, opinion piece, or other content to The Foresight through our submission process:
- Rights Transfer: By submitting content, you irrevocably transfer and assign to The Foresight all copyright and other intellectual property rights in the submitted work, worldwide, for the full duration of such rights, unless otherwise agreed in writing. The Foresight becomes the owner of the submitted content and may edit, publish, distribute, syndicate, or otherwise use it at its sole discretion.
- Originality and Warranties: You represent and warrant that the content you submit is your own original work, does not infringe any third party’s intellectual property or other rights, and does not contain defamatory, unlawful, or plagiarized material.
- Editorial Discretion: The Foresight reserves the right to edit, condense, reject, or decline to publish any submission, and to remove published content at its discretion, without obligation to provide a reason.
- Byline and Credit: Where a submission is published, we will credit the author by name unless anonymity is specifically requested and agreed to.
- No Payment Guarantee: Unless otherwise agreed in writing at the time of submission, contributions are unpaid. Any compensation arrangement must be confirmed separately and in writing.
4. Newsletter and Communications
If you subscribe to our newsletter, you agree to receive periodic email updates from The Foresight. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email or by contacting us directly. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your email address.
5. Advertising
The Site displays advertisements served through Google AdSense and may in the future include other advertising partners or sponsored content. Advertisements are clearly distinguished from editorial content. The Foresight is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or claims made in third-party advertisements, and inclusion of an advertisement does not imply endorsement by The Foresight. These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Pune, Maharashtra, India.
